The new Berry Man HQ saves 6100 tons of C02 annually

In October 2018 we opened our new, state-of-the-art freezer warehouse in Brookvale, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The facility enables storage of approx. 800 pallets in one location, and has resulted in greatly improved flexibility in our operation, particularly noticeable for our interstate customers.

Soon after opening we commissioned a solar power facility to help offset some of our carbon emissions. 281 panels were installed on the warehouse roof with the potential to produce 8.7 million kw hours of electricity per year. As refrigeration uses a lot of energy, this will provide about one third of our requirements.

Crucially, however, this system will avoid approx. 6100 tons of CO2 going into the atmosphere annually.

Mick, the founder of The Berry Man, is often asked how much money will be saved. His reply is simply; “That’s not the point. This is one thing we could do to lessen our impact on the environment. Investing in solar power is the best feel good thing I have ever done.”
