A: Nutrients: Frozen fruits have been snap-frozen at peak ripeness, locking in the maximum level of nutrient enrichment that has been made possible by Natures ripening process. Fresh fruits are generally picked before being fully ripened to be robust enough for transport and handling thus compromising the nutrient potential.
As they are processed then snap-frozen within hours of being harvested, frozen fruits are ready to be eaten with on the farm goodness. In the case of fresh fruit there can be a long time between picking and consumption, and the fruit may lose nutrients whilst being transported and displayed.
Convenience: With frozen fruits, all the work has been done! Frozen fruit is prepared so that it is ready to use. Seeds, skins and stems are removed and the fruit is washed hygienically under industry standards. Fresh fruits generally require careful and sometimes messy preparation and can consume precious time.
Availability: Frozen fruits are available all year round, while fresh fruits are generally seasonal or otherwise may be grown and ripened in artificial environments. Frozen fruits can be thawed and used at your leisure. Frozen fruits are available for 2 years from packing, as long as storage has been under continuous frozen conditions.
No Waste: As mentioned above, frozen fruits are ready to eat with all the inedible parts of the fruit removed. Also, nothing is lost to decay. This means that you dont pay for waste! This waste can be up to half the weight of the actual fruit, as in the case of mangoes.
Economy: Frozen fruits are cheaper. The scale of operations, and the reduction in labour and packaging dramatically cuts the unit price of the end product.
